Hey, let’s go shopping! Every so often the WoodenMum family will become mystery shoppers, and visit a retailer to see what they have on offer.

To kick off I decided to stay in the comfort of my armchair and shop on t’internet. I will go out and about as the year progresses but for now the whole comfort thing coupled with not having to pay for petrol to get into town or search for those ever decreasing car parking spaces has won me over and I have arrived at Little Fish Toys.

I must admit I do love shopping on the internet, well I’m a woman so of course I love shopping, that’s a given! But it’s the fact I can be at home, in my PJs and big fluffy slippers, curled up on the sofa in front of the telly and still get toys in time for the little ones birthdays – what could be more civilised than that!

Little Fish Toys are our delightful subject under the spotlight today. Follow the link www.littlefishtoys.co.uk and you will discover an inviting home page showing lots of different gift ideas. There are sections down the left hand side, a spot for ‘New Products for April’ and also ‘Featured Products’. The Featured Products bit keep changing each time you go back to the home page – so there’s always a cool, new idea on there to look at!

Across the top there are tabs to find out about delivery, which incidentally is usually a 24hr despatch – ideal for those ‘forgotten birthdays!’ A tab for Returns, just in case there is a problem, and a quick find button too – aimed at reducing hassle for anyone who knows just what she wants. Although I would highly recommend a good ‘browse’ instead….

After my own little browse I discovered there is a loyalty system, where you gain one point per £ spend in your account online. Then 20 points gives you £1 off your shopping. It’s akin to a Goldfish Card or Boots card etc… and if you keep your points in your account all year (they expire after 12 months so don’t forget them!) then you can end up with some tasty savings just at Christmas shopping time!

As for the products on offer, there are 100’s of adorable toys and other child related goodies. But of course I’m going to concentrate on the John Crane Ltd items… as I think they are the best lines that they sell (Of course I would say that!! I think I’m allowed to say that…..hey I said it!).
I particularly like the fact they’ve been creative, you can buy lots of different products or you can go for added value. If you put the word ‘bundle’ into the quick search facility you get some lovely furniture bundles, comprising of a set of chairs plus a table – there are a few of these to choose from. Then, at the moment, there are three toy special bundles, a fire themed one, space theme and wildlife theme too. Buying these bundles equates to quite a saving on the overall value of the toys against purchasing separately, plus you get your loyalty points too! What a great idea!

I’ll certainly return to Little Fish Toys - remember, when that promised long, hot summer doesn’t materialise and the rain is pouring down outside, stay indoors and shop till you drop!
